The municipality of 'Ponte nelle Alpi' lies at the confluence of the valleys that mark the eastern most district of Belluno Valley. The Piave Valley which descends from the area of Blyth, in fact, leaving biparte continue across the river towards Belluno and Feltre, while, directly to the south, opens the valley dominated by Lake of the Holy Cross, in which peep the mountains and villages of the basin alpagota. Ponte nelle Alpi is here in central position with respect to the flow of traffic and communications affecting the Venetian plain, the upper part of the province of Belluno and the middle course of the Piave to the Valsugana. Ponte nelle Alpi reserve an extensive range of features and a rich sample and territorial settlement, as the sacramental church of St. Catherine, near the bridge over the Piave; the castle built near the bridge over the Piave particularly fascinating-it is a fairly recent building that has its origins only at the beginning of this century-and-Villa Pagani Cesa Now Orzes the second half of the seventeenth century, built by the noble Cesa family, resided there the future Pope Gregory XVI and last but not least the bridge, which gives its name to the town, and which is already mentioned in 1181.
The context for the future pedestrian and cycle bridge is the background of the project idea: rich in history, intertwined with nature, towering mountains, wide valleys, the force of the river.
Each element has its own equilibrium, where history, l 'architecture and nature seem to have reached a' harmony that seems almost going to touch ruin it.
The goal is to build a new pedestrian and cycle bridge near the existing monumental, trying to keep the costs of implementation, optimising resources and ensuring the functionality of the intervention; to contain the costs of maintenance, with specific reference to the durability of the materials used, the time for repairs and programmed to their frequency decreased over time; to comply, with adjoining access routes, regulations, removal of architectural barriers, technical standards for bridges to the third category, taking into account that the bridge falls in an earthquake zone of the second class and that the infrastructure should be among those relevant to the regulation of civil protection.
Ode to Trota - A contemporary monument
The bridge, in addition to connect the two sides and make safe crossing for pedestrians and cyclists away from the car, it has the opportunity to offer great views, views to the mountains, the valley, the castle, and last but not least the water ...and the transparency of the water la trot del Piave will see is a monument to all that nature offers to our eyes but we need a little 'go have a look' ...
Not only that, those who cross the existing bridge, drive, receives the new footbridge as part of this natural setting, the bridge is made to open and views to be admired. Its silhouette interacts with mountains on the horizon.
In general, the bridge is thought of as a base (pedestal) and an element supported by this (statue / monument).
The 'Base' is in fact a simple walkway, solid, structure and appearance. This enhances the sculptural form that is above his 'Sculpture' to contrast it almost becomes lighter, almost on the move.
